Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, the largest chain of double drive-thru in the US, was founded by Jim Mattei in 1986 in Mobile, Alabama. Rally’s , founded in Loisville, Kentucky in 1985 was merged with Checkers in August 1999 and today the joint company operates more than 815 Checkers and Rally’s restaurants in 28 states and the District of Columbia along with Israel and American Samoa. They specialize in Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, French Fries and Milkshakes.
Checkers invites its customers to feast on its seasoned, seared and grilled burgers served fully loaded with freshest toppings. Its signature burgers are the Big Buford – a double cheeseburger, Cheese Champ, Bacon Cheese Champ, Baconzilla, Bacon Roadhouse, Checkerburger – Plain, with cheese / Bacon and Chili Cheeseburger. Checkers also serves grilled all-beef hot dogs topped with cheese or chili or both and served with mustard, ketchup and onions.
The chicken menu features Big Chicken Sandwich – Quarter pound of tender and juicy chicken with lettuce and mayo on toasted sordough, spicy chicken sandwich and chicken tenders. For the fish lovers there are fish burgers / sandwiches – Deep Sea Double and Crispy fish sandwich. Also, a must try is checkers’ “wings” – Medium Buffalo, Honey BBQ, Asian Kick, Angry Buffalo and Garlic Parmesan.
To accompany the burgers and sandwiches, get Checkers’ famous fries topped with ranch, chili, cheese or bacon optionally. And to finish on a sweet note, you can have Milkshakes or Cinnamon Apple Pies. Checkers also serves kids’ meals and soft drinks.
