Krystal – Nothin’ like it…

Krystal, an american fast food restaurant chain known for their small, sqaured hamburger sliders with steamed-in onions served 24×7, was founded on October 24,1932 in Chattanooga, tennessee by Rody Devenport Jr. and J. Glenn Sherrill. It survived through the great depression years with the theory that “People would patronize a restaurant that was kept spotlessly clean, where they could get a good meal with courteous service at the lowest possible prize.” Today, crystal has over 420 locations in 11 states ( Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia & Arkansas) and sales more than 239 million hamburgers a year.

Krystal’s product line centres on a square hamburger patty slider with a steamed bun called a “Krystal” served with single/ double patty and with/without cheese. Another signature item is small hot dogs named “Pups” available in four varieties: Plain, Chili, Chili cheese and corn . A recent addition to this is a “Big Angus Burger”, a full-sized hamburger made of 100% Angus Chuck patty meat served with cheese, bacon & chili. The spicy chicken menu features Krystal Chik – a fired chicken breast filet slider served on the steamed square bun, Chik’n Bites and Crispy Chicken salad.

Krystal is famous for its diverse breakfast menu featuring made-to-order “country breakfast” including meat and egg sandwiches & the “Scrambler”, a layered stack of scrambled eggs, sausage, grits & cheese with otional pancakes, sausage gravy or southwestern style spices served in a styrofoam cup. The latest attraction is the Omelet Scrambler with a loaded omelet-eggs, peppers, onions, sausage or bacon and grits.

The sides menu includes Kryspers, Grits, Chili, French fries, Chili cheese fries, Ranch Chili cheese fries and salad. Krystal also serves Kid’s meal, desserts and beverages. For the caloried concious eaters, there are nutrition value charts available for each and every menu item.

Apart from the mouthwatering food, Krystal offers free wi-fi internet access to customers and prototype testing is going on for multiple big-screen television monitors and free digital jukeboxes. Also, if you think you have good appetite, don’t miss the Krystal square-off eating competition, where the current world-record of 103 burers in 8 minutes was set by Joey Chestnut on October 28, 2007.
