The place made it to headlines when a 2007 Wall Street Journal article called the “Ghetto Burgers” available here the best hamburger in America. The same article also declared Atlanta to be the best city for hamburgers mentioning the Vortex and The EARL as other good places to go for hamburgers. However, the 8-seat diner has long been a favourite with customers inspite of the strict rules laid down by the 66 year old mistress. The place is always full of crowd on the patio waiting patiently for their turn.

It’s a humongous concoction including ground beef, bacon, tomato, lettuce, cheese, seasoning, mustard, mayonnaise, onions and chili on oven-toasted buns. Sitting inside the diner you can watch Miss Ann prepare the burger for you by griddling hige chunks of beef (no hand formed patties) and placing it on a bun along with a layer of home made chili, deep fried bacon, a generous amount of cheese and other toppings. Watching the process helps you being mentally prepared for one of the best burger experience you are going to have. The burger is served with tea, cut in half for ease of handling.
Miss Ann also serves a variant called “Hood Burger” where lettuce and tomatoes are swapped with slaw. The lady herself is the american spirit of determination, consistency and perfection personified.
So, if you are passing through Atlanta, don’t miss the best burger around.
