Healthy Fastfood for Kids – An Initiative To Push

Kids, as the future of the humankind (the next generation) reserves a remarkable place in the fast-food customer base. As we know kids not only love fast-food but it is sometimes their necessity too. They also brings their family to the restaurants to enjoy the same (of course, orders for home delivery are loved as well). The fast food industry also took them seriously. With the vision to provide the nutritionally balanced food, The chains like Burger King, Chili’s, Friendly’s, and IHOP plan to include low-sugar, low-sodium options that boast increased servings of fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains at over 15,000 restaurants through out USA.

This is a part of the National Restaurant Association’s initiative to provide healthier food options at restaurants for kids and having them easily available for the parents as well. Of course some of the items were in the menu since long, but now restaurants are advertising them more prominently in order to promote healthy items easy to find and order in the menu. To qualify for the program the guidelines are set as at least one kids menu item to be 600 or less calories (and meet other nutritional requirements as well); and a side dish of 200 calories.

Which chain restaurants warmly welcoming this idea and planning to update the stuff at their’s? Au Bon Pain, Bonefish Grill, Burger King, Burgerville, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Chevys, Chili’s, Corner Bakery Cafe, Cracker Barrel, Denny’s, El Pollo Loco, Friendly’s, IHOP, Joe’s Crab Shack, Outback Steakhouse, Silver Diner, Sizzler, T-Bones Great American Eatery and zpizza.
