Domino’s entering in Burger Business With a different concept

Tom Monaghan – founder of Domino’s Pizza, one of the largest fast food chain, is launching a new concept. The idea is delivering Burgers (rather than Pizza) to customer’s doorsteps. He is also hopeful to open Gyrene Hamburger – a burger joint in Naples, Fl. in the next couple of months. When he told to newspapers “Hamburgers are more popular than Pizza”, the importance of Burger in the Fast-Food market is officially accepted. Of course, the concept is launched on the testing base only as of now, and not all the Pizza Parlours by Domino’s will be implementing the same. Also to concentrate on quality and fast-delivery Gyrene Hamburger will only sell hamburgers, which will make the operation run more efficiently and speed delivery. There will be no sides and no drinks. Also, in the menu, only two varieties of Burger will be available with each burger is less than $6. The two varieties are 1. Classic- A Hamburger with mustard, pickle and Ketchup and 2. Deluxe – A Hamburger with tomato, lettuce and mayonnaise. Of course, cheese and bacon will be there along with double Angus beef patties.

An interesting fact about the name “Gyrene”; it is a nickname for a Marine. In 1950 Tom have spent 3 years in Marine Corps. As the Naples Daily News mentioned, there will be no sitting available in the stores, there will be only pick-up facility. It is considered that around 6 workers will be working in the store and 10-12 drivers will take care of the delivery operations. It is important to note that, earlier Domino’s have launched Pizza delivery within 30 minutes time span, which did lead to lot of accidents. Now, Tom is concentrating more on safety along with the service.

Tom’s idea behind not selling drinks along with Burgers is also quite simple. As they are going to provide pickup and delivery only stuff, the customers will be eating the food at home or office, where they already have the drink available which they want to enjoy with Burgers. So they don’t see the need to sell drinks along with. Such simple and thoughtful ideas make a business (or businessman) success.
