Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Inc.’s (RRGB) second-quarter earnings surged 59% as the casual-dining company benefited from higher guest check amounts and stronger restaurant operating margins. Shares were up 9.3% at $17.46 in after-hours trading as adjusted profit and revenue beat analysts’ expectations. The stock through Thursday’s close is up 58% this year.

Umami Burger, the California burger chain is joining the export brigade. mami founder Adam Fleischman is building the chain’s flagship location in a 3,000-square-foot former spa at the Grove, scheduled to open in late fall.
